PhoXi page
On the PhoXi page you connect a Photoneo 3D sensor and trigger a scan to check what the sensor sees. This page applies to both Bin Picking Studio (BPS) and Locator Studio (LS).
For the supported sensors and scanning profiles, see 3D sensors and scanning profiles. For the network settings of the sensors, see Sensor interfaces.
Which users may use the PhoXi page depends on the user role. See Other permissions.
Sensor list
The open Sensor list with the example file camera InstalledExamples-example-camera-1 (red frame), used for the example below.
Each entry of the list shows the sensor type (PhoXi for a PhoXi 3D Scanner, MCC for a MotionCam-3D), the sensor ID, the sensor size (for example S, M, L, XL), an info icon and a status indicator.
Select the sensor in the Sensor list. The list shows the status of each sensor:
Ready
Connected
Occupied / Not ready
If the Studio shows “This sensor has unspecified variant, contact support please.”, contact Photoneo support.
Connecting a sensor and scanning
Select a sensor in the Sensor list.
Click Connect.
Click Trigger scan.
Check the result on the tabs Point cloud, Texture and Depth map.
After Connect, the sensor shows its IP address (a file camera shows “N/A (FileCam)”) and the Trigger scan button appears. Red frames: Trigger scan and the tabs of the scan views. The point cloud of the scan is shown below the tabs.
While the Studio carries out an action, it shows the Processing dialog with the text “Please wait…”.
The Environment page shares the sensor controls with the PhoXi page. A sensor connected on the Environment page is also connected on the PhoXi page. See Environment.
Scan views
Point cloud – the point cloud captured by the sensor.
Texture – the texture captured by the sensor.
Depth map – the depth map captured by the sensor.
Until you trigger a scan, each tab shows a hint to click Trigger scan.
Working with the point cloud
Rotate – drag with the left mouse button. The view turns fast, so use small mouse moves.
Zoom – scroll the mouse wheel, or click + and − in the bottom right corner.
View – preset views: All (fits the whole scene, including the sensor origin), Home, Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Front and Back.
Camera – the camera mode: Trackball or Orbit.
Measure – measure distances in the point cloud.
Scan – Download current scan.
Point Cloud – Hide or Clear the point cloud, and set the Point size, the Point color (Height Ramp or Single Color) and the Z range [mm].
Rotating the point cloud with the left mouse button and zooming in with the mouse wheel. The scan comes from an example file camera.
The Texture and Depth map tabs show 2D images. You cannot rotate or zoom them.
The Texture tab (red frame) with the texture of the scan.
The Depth map tab (red frame) with the depth map of the same scan.
